Wellington

This is Wellington, the capital of NZ. It is located on the southern most tip of the North Island. We stayed there one night after crossing Cook Strait from the South Island. It had been described to us that if Auckland were LA then Wellington is San Francisco. A pretty city, but they roll up the carpets when the offices close. So I would say that comparison really doesn't wash. At least that was our experience... as you can see from the view from our hotel (Top Middle picture) which was in the center of town. We walked around much of the civic center searching for any restaurant the was open after 5 PM! In the defense of Wellington, Kiwis in Auckland were surprised and said there is a night life in Wellington, we may have not been in the more lively part of town. Obviously. :-)
